My Approach & Philosophy

Co-Creating with Nature, Together.

Traditional gardening often feels like a constant battle against the elements—fighting weeds, chasing away pests, and forcing plants to grow where they don’t want to. I flip the script: we work with nature, not against it.

Instead of a traditional service where someone says, "I will take care of this for you," my philosophy is: "Let’s look at this together." I am here to share my knowledge of natural processes, empowering you with the skills, confidence, and ergonomics to cultivate your own thriving space.

The Root of What I Believe:

Sustainable & Regenerative

I focus on water conservation, wildlife-friendly landscaping, and organic pest management to create an ecosystem that heals the earth while it blooms.

Abundant & Beautiful

Your garden can be both a haven for pollinator protection and a source of fresh, homegrown food and flowers.

Less Work, More Joy

By simplifying maintenance naturally, I design low-upkeep systems that save money, conserve resources, and give you time back to actually enjoy your space.

Kind to Your Body

Gardening should feel good. I integrate ergonomic gardening techniques so you can nurture your land comfortably without straining your body.

A Life Rooted in the Natural World

For me, gardening is a lifelong calling rooted in 25 years of professional experience with outdoor gardens and indoor plantscaping throughout our Pacific Northwest community. To offer a more ecological alternative to traditional landscaping, I earned my Permaculture Design Certificate under Toby Hemenway in 2011 in Portland OR, reframing yards as living, self-sustaining ecosystems. I’ve furthered my training with Horticulture courses at Portland Community College and classes on urban gardening and food cultivation with Rachel Freifelder and Marisha Auerbach. As a current BFA student at Western Washington University I bring a fresh, creative perspective to helping you simplify maintenance naturally.

What makes my coaching truly unique is how I bridge ecological design with human well-being and natural health. Grounded in a commitment to natural care, I have studied herbalism, cultivate plants for medicinal teas, and draw heavily on my degree in gerontology and studies in horticultural therapy to use nature as a tool for profound restoration. This holistic approach shapes how I coach whether teaching ergonomic gardening postures to protect your body, setting up indoor plantscaping, or establishing vibrant outdoor edibles. Instead of doing the work for you, let’s look at your garden together and build your confidence to co-create a thriving, resource-saving sanctuary.

Grounded in Science, Design, and Tradition

My approach blends hands-on regional experience with deep, diverse training in ecological design and natural care:

🌱

Permaculture Design

I earned my Permaculture Design Certificate in Portland, OR under the renowned Toby Hemenway in 2011, establishing my foundation in systems that work with nature.

📚

Horticultural Studies

I have expanded my technical knowledge through horticulture classes at Portland Community College, urban gardening with Marisha Auerbach, and food-cultivation training with Rachel Freifelder.

🍵

Herbalism & Plant Medicine

My strong commitment to natural healthcare inspired me to study herbalism, and I actively cultivate plants to blend medicinal teas.

🤝

Bridging People & Plants

With a degree in gerontology, five years of elder care experience, and focused coursework in horticultural therapy, I understand how profoundly nature can heal us. I bring this unique background into my indoor plantscaping and coaching work to make gardening accessible, therapeutic, and joyful for every stage of life.
